The University Libraries of Notre Dame and its partner institutions in the regional group of Northern Indiana academic libraries will introduce 42 diverse, college-bound graduating seniors from area high schools to the profession of academic librarianship through employment as summer student assistants who perform "real" work in various units of the participating libraries and through individual mentorship by academic librarians. These students will be drawn from varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and after the program, their career choices will be tracked for a minimum of six years. Match: $226,740
