Log Number: RE-259000-OLS-25

The University of Mississippi will provide professional development opportunities for rural academic librarians to learn coding and data science skills through Library Carpentry curricula. Academic librarians employed in rural institutions are often at a disadvantage in participating in professional development, such as coding and data science workshops, due to limited funds and challenges with attracting instructors to rural locations. This community-centered implementation project focuses on the needs of rural academic librarians in Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, and Tennessee by offering Library Carpentry workshops and building a network of Carpentries-certified instructors for the southeastern United States who can provide professional development opportunities for librarians regardless of institutional funding and geography.
