Log Number: RE-259668-OLS-26

University of North Texas (UNT) Department of Information Science, UNT Libraries, and Texas Woman’s University School of Library and Information Studies will explore Information Organization and Knowledge Organization (IO&KO) skills for librarians and archivists. The planning project will focus on curriculum design and materials that lead to a training certificate. The project team will analyze available learning resources and pedagogical approaches, and design and implement a nationwide needs assessment survey. These analyses will inform specific curricular elements and a plan for the training certificate with an experiential component for existing IO&KO professionals in need of continuing education. The plan will cover cataloging, classification and other metadata work in libraries and archives, as well as applications of linked data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in facilitating information discovery.
