Bakken

The Bakken will demonstrate the potential of special collections libraries to contribute in innovative and significant ways to K-12 science education, in partnership with the Minneapolis Public Schools. The project will support students in developing science competencies critical for success in college, career, and civic engagement, as well as meet national language arts standards regarding students’ ability to read challenging informational text in ways that develop their scientific thinking and communication skills. The Bakken will use its library holdings, rich in works of scientists, to serve as such informational texts, to demonstrate the value of the library to the community and use digitized primary sources to provide broad access for students and teachers.
