The California State Library will use funds to support the goals of their Five-Year Plan for FY 2013-2017, which reflect the purposes and priorities of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). In California, specific goals address 1) providing equitable access to literacy services and programs; 2) providing training and information in support of 21st Century skills; 3) creating new tools to connect Californians to library content and services; 4) creating, digitizing and preserving collections; 5) bridging the digital divide; 6) sharing content and collections across libraries; 7) responding to community needs not currently met by traditional library services; and 8) ensuring library access for populations that face barriers to traditional library service.
